Sad, 2014

Sad is an experimental theatre play produced by Hanna Melissa and myself. An adaptation of the best selling single “Bohemian Rhapsody” by the British rock band Queen, the play focuses on the life of a remorseful murderer as she goes through the five stages of grief. The teenager, diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolarity suffers from great discontentment for her mother’s overprotective behavior.

 

Sad combines Wayang Kulit and Wayang Wong’s traditional production and performance elements with Antonin Artaud's Theatre of Cruelty.
