Taken from Press Release:
Intersections is founded by doctor and designer Dr. Stefanie Kalfas who seeks to converge the world of medicine and art in exploring the possibilities of infusing health awareness into different forms of expression. Dr. Kalfas shares “there are common grounds of creativity, innovation and empathy that are required in both fields of art and medicine; and in their shared potential to shape our experience of life.”
The non-profit’s campaign is enabled by the Victorian government through Pick My Project, and is set to make its debut in an artistic production on the 22nd of November. Dr. Kalfas will present an immersive installation at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA) to 200 diverse representatives from the Victorian community. The installation piece represents the artistic exploration of scientific progress and humanity inherent in contributing to hope for better treatments for cancer. The production will incorporate an orchestra; light, and video art; and an original Melbourne-designed and hand-made couture collection by Dr. Kalfas and Helen Moshopoulos.
All proceeds from the community, corporations and philanthropists involved in the campaign will be donated in support of cancer research. Intersections has nominated the Snowdome Foundation as its charity partner for its first campaign. Donations raised will be directed towards cutting-edge medical research at the Christine and Bruce Wilson Centre for Lymphoma Genomics at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre to enhance the combination of genomics and immunotherapy to ‘make hope real’ for Australians with blood cancer.
